Since Mr. Taub took over as the Israeli ambassador, the Israel-U.K. trade doubled, and academic, business, and cultural links between the two countries deepened. During the British Israeli Business Award, Sajid Javid, British Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, and Skills told an audience that the total trade between Israel and the United Kingdom had entered a golden era.

Over 300 Israeli businesses opened offices in the United Kingdom. The annual bilateral trade stands at $5.5 billion. Daniel Taub was born in the United Kingdom and was appointed Israeli ambassador in 2011.

Once, a peace ambassador, Taub traveled with his Palestinian counterpart to North America to promote peace.

In 2012, Daniel Taub expressed his concerns about the atmosphere on some U.K. campuses, warning administrators to ensure all views including those supportive of Israel are expressed without intimidation. In 2014, he visited Bradford after George Galloway, the city’s representative to parliament declared the area an Israel-free-zone.

About Daniel Taub

Daniel Taub is an Israeli diplomat, author, and international lawyer who served as Israeli ambassador to the UK between 2011 and 2015. He was born and brought up in the United Kingdom. He went to the Haberdasher’s Aske’s Boys’ School, and after that joined the Harvard University and the University College, and Oxford University College.

In 1989, Taub fled to Israel where he worked as a combat medic in the Israel Defense Forces and subsequently as IDF’s international lawyer. Shortly after arriving in Israel, President Chaim Herzog appointed Taub as his speechwriter. In 1991, Mr. Taub joined the Israeli Foreign Ministry.

Mr. Taub and his wife, Zehava, have six children with whom they performed at a party in honor of Israeli’s 64th birthday. He has held various legal, diplomatic, and political posts in the Israeli Foreign Ministry.

As an expert in international law, Taub specializes in the laws of war and counter-terrorism. Daniel Taub served as Israeli’s legal advisor to Geneva and the United States during his tenure as the Principal Deputy Legal Advisor of Israeli’s Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Daniel Taub also represented Israel in several multilateral talks. In fact, Mr. Taub took part in the Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiation and helped negotiate several agreements reached by the two countries. He also participated in the talks between Israel and Syria.
