Civil, Human and Migrants’ Rights Organisations

Avaaz is an organization, started in 2007, that is involved in global activism. The organization advocates for issues relating to climate change, abuse of human rights, alleviation of poverty, and corruption cases. The group is active in 17 countries. Like other civil groups, the group’s mission is to make the world a better place.

In the recent past, the organization has participated in the following arenas, the Paris Climate Accord. During this conference the group advocated for the banning of the use of fossil fuels.

Avaaz also participated in defeating the media tycoon Rupert Murdoch. Murdoch is suspected to have corrupted the UK politicians by bribing them. Murdoch wanted to take over the British broadcasting giants BSkyB.

However, the Avaaz group was able to launch a nine-month campaign that prevented the hostile takeover. The organization was used the internet as a platform to launch attacks.

The organization has lobbied for social issues relating to women rights and climate change. The organization has an active website that allows users to log in and poses any social and environmental problem in the world.

The National Network for Immigrant and Refugee Rights is an international organization concerned with the affairs of the refugees and migrants. The organization has been in existence for more than 20 years.

The organization works hand in hand with the Global Coalition on Migration and the Women in Migration Network. These organizations work together to improve the condition of refugees and immigrants in foreign soils.

The Women in Migration Network is an organization that is aimed at improving the lives of women living either as refugees or immigrants. The network brings together groups and activists that advocate for policies in favor of women and families whose lives have been interfered with by migration. The organization focuses on empowering the migrants; this assists the migrants to contribute towards economic and social development in the foreign country.

The Women in Migration Network facilitates in ensuring that migrant workers assume the position of stakeholders in the sustainable developments. The organization provides that the employees’ rights and protections be upheld by the employers. Currently, the group is working on ensuring that migrant workers participate in the collective bargaining of their rights with their employers.

Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund

There are other groups that also dedicate their efforts in assisting the migrants. The Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund is an organization founded by Michael and Jim to help the migrants. The organization founders were journalists who were illegally arrested by Maricopa County Sherriff Joe Arpaio.

The journalists were awarded by the court $3.75 million as settlement for the unlawful arrest. The journalists have dedicated this money in funding activists groups. Currently, the organization is funding groups that are advocating for civil, human and migrants’ rights. The organization also supports freedom of speech and civic participation in Arizona.
