Vijay Eswaran is the Executive Chairmain of the QI Group, a teacher, an author, and served as the Malaysian Ministry of Labour. He has written four books, In the Sphere of Silence (2005), In the Thinking Zone (2008), 18 Stepping Stones (2010), Two Minutes From The Abyss (2016). Eswaran is also a philanthropist, having founded the RYTHM Foundation in 2004, and the Vijayaratnam Foundation in 2006, as well as donating to charities on a regular basis in general. He has a net worth of over half a billion dollars.
Eswaran believes that “service above self” is one of the greatest keys to being a successful leader, a piece of priceless wisdom that he learned as a young boy from his father. In an article he authored recently he talks about others keys to strong leadership; Caring, having a strong set of core values to invest in, and of course the importance of being willing to sacrifice for the greater good. Change is another topic Eswaran views as necessary to be successful in life, without change nothing ever truly evolves therefor it is essential that one must invoke change in the areas of their personal or business lives that they wish to see positive growth and general progression in. Eswaran is a living example of his own advice, leading others by the example of his actions.
Fear is another point which Vijay Eswaran has talked about in the past. Fear, in his opinion, is really excitement that our brain suppresses in order to protect ourselves from failing. It is failure to achieve the things we desire the most that brings about fear in our brains. If harnessed properly, as Eswaran has done himself, the emotion of fear can be turned into one of the greatest motivating factors in our lives. Embrace what you fear, be courageous despite self doubt, and you will grow, and you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
